Cook County Court Closure Update Due to Covid-19

Cook County Court Closure Update Due to Covid-19

As you know, most court cases from March 17 to April 17 had already been continued until after April 17 due to the coronavirus.

On March 30, the Chief Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County announced that the court closures would continue until at least May 18, 2020.

Some of you have been on top of the ball and immediately reporting in when you’re receiving post cards from the court with your new court date. Unfortunately, many of these new dates are before May 18.

Thus, if you receive a postcard with a court date BEFORE May 18, you will not have court then. You will still need to continue to watch the mail for a new postcard with a new date.

It is our hope that cases will resume on May 18. Remember, we’re in this with you and are here for you. The one thing we need from you is to let us know immediately when you get the postcard and what date/time it says. Things will be very hectic once courts open up and if you don’t let us know in time when your court date is, this could cause scheduling conflicts.
